Cheesteaks

A good cheesesteak is something I could eat once a week and never get tired of. They aren't difficult to make and my version is packed full of flavor. Here is how I make it!

Course: Main Course
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4 6" subs

Ingredients

  • 2 12' Sub rolls Jimmy Johns are great!
  • 3 lbs shaved beef
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1/2 white onion
  • 8 oz white mushrooms washed
  • SPG to season beef and veggies
  • Worcestershire sauce for beef and veggies
  • Bacon Up Bacon Grease
  • Arbo's cheese dip or similar
  • 12 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Start by getting everything prepped. Wash mushrooms, dice up pepper and onion, and slice up steak if not using shaved beef.
  • Toast sub rolls and set aside after cutting in half.
  • Cook peppers, onions, and mushrooms on medium heat and season with SPG while also adding a little W sauce to the mushrooms.
  • Cook beef on med-high heat and season with SPG/W sauce.
  • Once everything os cooked through turn heat to low on all burners and you can combine beef with preferred veggies. Top with provolone cheese and allow to melt.
  • Add to sub roll the spoon on some cheese dip. Enjoy!!

Notes

Any sub rolls work but I like the Jimmy John's and they are just as cheap as some from a grocery store.  You can save even more money by buying day old if they have any left.  Traditionally,  cheese whiz is used but it doesn't compare to Arbo's with flavor.

This beef was thinly sliced NY Strip from Costco but many grocery stores sell “shaved beef” in 1lb packages. SPG is salt, pepper, garlic.

I have looked in Owensboro for the Arbo’s. Where do you find it?
