Why You’ll Love this Recipe
- 8 Ingredient Dessert Recipe. We are keeping it simple here, this Oreo dessert is easy to shop for and easy to make…even my son loves to make it!
- Great to make in advance. This is our go-to party dessert recipe, it serves a bunch of people and can be made hours before. It also transports well too if you want to bring it to a picnic or potluck.
- Make it your own. It’s easy to get creative with this recipe, swap the cookies, use a different flavor of pudding, the options are endless!
Ingredients
- Oreos: Best chocolate cookies that we’ll crumble into the layers.
- Cream cheese: Make sure you soften this prior to making the dessert for easy mixing. Gives creaminess and a hint of cheesy flavor to the pudding layer.
- Butter: Adds richness to the pudding layer.
- Vanilla extract: Makes any vanilla pudding mix even better in flavor.
- Powdered sugar: Sweetens the pudding just right and dissolves into the mixture so there’s no gritty texture.
- Cool whip or whipped topping: Thaw this so it’s easy to mix, it’s the base of the no-bake dessert layers.
- Instant vanilla pudding: The mix that helps to create that classic pudding texture and flavor.
- Cold milk: We recommend whole milk here. It’s mixed with the pudding mix to activate the powder and thicken correctly.

3. Add pudding once set and continue to beat until smooth.
4. Now gently fold in Cool Whip until uniform consistency.
5. In a large bowl or aluminum pan, add the Oreo to the bottom.
6. Then layer with the pudding mixture.

Expert Tips
- Thaw your cream cheese, butter, and Cool Whip appropriately. You will want them to be either thawed or softened so they are easy to mix together and layer.
- Chill for a few hours before serving. This is the most important step of the whole recipe, it sets the pudding mixture and helps the layers settle so the flavor and texture is perfect.
- Customize to your liking. We use vanilla pudding here, but you could also use chocolate. We love Oreos but feel free to swap for vanilla Oreos, Biscoff cookies, chocolate chip cookies, etc.
- If your pudding hasn’t thickened, chances are you need to whisk it more! Make sure your milk is very cold and use a hand mixer to help speed the process along.
Storage and Make Ahead
Store this Oreo dessert in the fridge for up to 4 days. This won’t freeze well as it will change the texture of the pudding and could make it watery once thawed.
The best part is this dessert should be made in advance so it has enough time to set and chill in the fridge. We like to make it the morning of any event and by the time we’re ready to enjoy the no-bake dessert is ready.

Mistake, I’ll correct it…. Thanks!
Amazing dude thank you

I have to make two when I make this. One for the two adult kids to fight over taking home with them one is 32 an the other is 36. One to set out on my table. They end up with half each after they have scarfed one the one that’s on the table. So i know to cut me out two pieces and hide in fridge for me before they arrive. Plus they both have the recipe and they say it tastes better when mom makes it. I tell them it’s the love I put in it or maybe i haven’t washed my hands lol.
Lol!!! 😆😅🤣😂
Do you use 2 packs of pudding? In the video it looks like you just use 1 pack? I want to make it but wanted to be sure so I don’t put too much
2!
Super good! I made it into a pie instead of a trifle
