This Chicken Bacon Ranch Tortellini is a one pot pasta recipe that’s ready in only 15 minutes. With rich and comforting flavors, I use rotisserie chicken to keep dinner prep short and sweet.

I decided to make this Chicken Bacon Ranch Tortellini as dinner in my condo to save money while at the beach on vacation, and my family and friends all loved it! It is a simple, one pot bacon recipe that is ready from start to finish in 15 minutes. The best way to keep this dish simple is using a store-bought cooked rotisserie chicken. Little to no preparation is required and you don’t need to stress about the ingredients.

If you enjoy this tortellini recipe, feel free to try some of my other pasta dinners, such as Chicken Alfredo Tortellini or Chicken Enchilada Tortellini. This chicken bacon ranch pasta has been very popular, with one reader Jessica commenting:

“We travel every week for my fiancé’s job, and we bring an electric skillet with us, so one pot dishes are wonderful. This recipe is amazing, and my 10 yr old step daughter loves it too!”  5 stars – Jessica

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • 15 minute dinner, it’s faster than takeout.
  • One pan meal, even the pasta cooks in the same pot.
  • Classic rich flavor combination, something the whole family will love.

MATT’S TIP: Use freshly grated cheese and spray your grater with cooking oil to keep the cheese from sticking.

Ingredients for chicken bacon ranch tortellini.

Ingredients:

  • Rotisserie Chicken – Pre-cooked keeps this dish quick and easy.
  • Cheese Tortellini – Again, pre-cooked is simple and best.
  • Bacon – Cook this before and save the bacon grease for later use.
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese – Grated from the block is best, pre-grated does not melt well.
  • Heavy Cream – This will give the dish its rich and creamy base.
  • Chicken Broth – Combines well with the heavy cream to create the sauce.
  • Ranch Seasoning – A great way to add flavor and complete the chicken, bacon, ranch trio.
  • Black Pepper – Simple yet essential for flavor.
  • Garlic Powder – This gives the garlic flavor without the hassle of raw garlic.
  • Ranch Dressing – The perfect addition to finalize the dish’s flavor.

Expert Tips:

  • Use a stand mixer or hand mixer to easily shred rotisserie chicken.
  • Shred cheese straight from the block for a better melt.
  • Cook the bacon first and set to the side so it stays crispy – the drippings also add so much flavor to the pasta.
  • Use fresh cheese tortellini so it cooks quickly.

What to Serve With Chicken Bacon Ranch Tortellini:

Since this dish is quite rich and heavy, it pairs best with light sides that can be refreshing, such as cooked vegetables or a salad. Some crunchy garlic bread will also pair well, adding texture and soaking up the creamy sauce.

Storage and Make-Ahead Instructions:

This dish can be stored in the fridge or the freezer. My best recommendation is the fridge, which can preserve the tortellini for up to 5 days as long as it’s stored in an airtight container. It can be reheated on the stovetop after adding a little bit of heavy cream to keep it moist.

Freezing is also an option for longer preservation, however it is important to thaw out the dish in the fridge before reheating, and be prepared to re-add seasonings or additions as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I make chicken bacon ranch tortellini in the slow cooker?

Yes, ingredients are the same however the cooking time will vary due to the nature of the slow cooker.

How do I keep the pasta from becoming mushy?

Using pre cooked tortellini will help this, you just want to make sure not to overcook it and reach the al dente point,

Can I cook the chicken from scratch?

Yes! It will add to the cooking time so I recommend doing this before hand for ease when preparing.

Looks great. If I don’t have a rotisserie chicken, would it be about a pound of roasted chicken breasts?

We loved it I didn’t have rotisserie chicken so I just boiled chicken n seasoned it with garlic. I also added less ranch just bc my girls aren’t big in ranch! This was a perfect recipe the longest part was cooking chicken and bacon! Definitely a 10/10
