Course: Appetizer, Main Course, Snack
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 2 hours
Servings: 60 burnt ends

Ingredients

  • 15 beer bratwurst
  • BBQ rub of choice
  • 1/2 bottle mustard based BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Honey

Instructions

  • Start by generously seasoning your bratwursts with your favorite BBQ rub. Place brats on smoker for about an hour at 250 degrees(make sure they have good color).
  • Remove brats after an hour and cut each one into 4 equal sized pieces after resting for 10 min.. This will allow them to soak up more of the delicious sauce!
  • Pour your half bottle of BBQ sauce over brats, then sprinkle brown sugar. Lastly, distribute pats of butter.
  • Cover with foil, and place back on smoker.
  • Increase temp to 300 degrees and allow to cook 1 hr covered, stirring once. Enjoy after allowing to cool!

Notes

These are an amazing appetizer or side dish.  Feel free to use a reg BBQ sauce instead of mustard based but I just feel like brats and mustard go together like peanut butter and jelly.  A BBQ rub with a little heat really goes a long way as well!
