Atta Boy Squire!

June 8, 2023

The handsome fella you see above is my buddy Squire (named after the Tyler Childers song).  He’s actually a huge part of the reason this website exists and that I am where I am cooking on social media today…. In late 2020 my fellow nurse buddy Matt(@handyman99) was having success creating and showcasing his woodworking skills on TikTok.  He kept seeing the pics I would post to my Facebook page of my cooking exploits and urged me to give creating content a shot.  After going back and forth for several weeks, I reluctantly posted my first video on TikTok.  I was absolutely certain it would go viral.  Last I checked,  it still doesn’t have 1000 views. 😂 But,  I persisted because that’s who I am.  Slowly a video here and there would get a little traction and the next thing you know,  I’m at 10k followers on TikTok.

So I’m sure you are wondering at this point how a dog came into play?  I had wanted a “big dog” for a good while and a chocolate lab was always my first choice.  One night I made a video asking my wife how many followers it would take for us to get a dog.  After mulling it over, she responded 100,000!  Well, after a couple of successful videos, that happened within just a couple of months!  My wife being the awesome person she was had secretly decided to get me a puppy anyway and the day I hit 100k she announced we already had a date set to pick out my boy.  We traveled over 2 hours to see the litter and choose our newest family member.  I knew Squire was the one.  I didn’t choose him, he chose me!  When we were playing with all of the puppies, he kept coming back to us.  I’m not even mad that he’s 100% a momma’s boy at this point.  I sure do love him!

I don’t think anyone, including my wife and I, expected my social media to keep growing, but it has and I have found that I really love sharing my passion is this way!  Since I posted my first TikTok video on December 27, 2020 I have grown to over 1 million followers on TikTok, as well as, 485k on Facebook, and 220k on Instagram at the writing of this post.  I am truly grateful and appreciate the support of each and every one of you!

Great story!! We are also owners of a sweet chocolate lab, her name is Coco. She is 11 years old and has hip dysplasia. A former Kentucky girl from the Elizabethtown area now living in Texas, I really enjoy your social media posts and recipes. Keep up the good work and you’ll continue to score followers! Good luck and much success!

Other than shedding, they are the best dogs! I’m about 90 min away from ETown but we drive through there pretty frequently with my sons wrestling schedule!

I don’t think life ever goes as smooth as you would like. I left my full time job as a nurse after 22 years in early August. A week later as I’m ready to tackle this creator gig full time I woke up with what I thought was a pulled muscle in my butt cheek of all...
