This Million Dollar Tortellini Bake may just be my most viral pasta recipe. This is one of my kids’ favorite meals and is so simple to prepare with just a baking dish and a large skillet. With a handful of ingredients, it’s quick to prep and feeds a crowd.

If you’ve never had Million Dollar Spaghetti, you’re in for a treat with our Million Dollar Tortellini Bake. It’s layers of noodles with a red meat sauce baked in a casserole dish and layers of creamy ingredients too. We like to use heavy cream, mozzarella cheese, and Alfredo sauce, while the classic recipe uses cottage cheese, cream cheese, and even sour cream.
Our secret ingredient to our viral recipe is using store-bought cheese tortellini. We always buy a pack to keep in the fridge or throw some in the freezer so we can make a comforting dinner in a pinch on a busy weeknight. Be sure to also try our Cheesy Chili Tortellini and BBQ Chicken Tortellini, they are some of our other favorite recipes.

Why You’ll Love this Recipe
- Delicious for the whole family and kids love it. I serve this at so many different family and neighborhood parties and both kids and adults love it.
- Minimal prep time and no fancy equipment needed. All you need is a skillet to brown the beef and a baking dish to layer and bake the casserole. It’s as simple as that.
- Customize to your liking. Use your favorite jarred tomato sauce, swap the ground beef for another ground protein, use another kind of cheese, the options are endless.
Ingredients

- Ground beef: The protein for the sauce in the tortellini bake. I like to use a leaner beef here, but you could also use ground turkey, chicken, or Italian sausage.
- Spaghetti Sauce: Choose your favorite brand here.
- Italian seasoning: Adds nice herb flavor to the bake.
- Garlic powder: Infuses every bite with garlic.
- Black pepper: Lots of spicy black pepper make this delicious.
- Cheese tortellini: Use frozen, fresh or shelf-stable. You may need to bake for a little bit longer if using frozen or shelf-stable.
- Alfredo sauce: Adds creaminess in every bite.
- Heavy cream: Gives more richness and creamy flavor.
- Shredded mozzarella cheese: Adds nice cheesiness.
How to Make Million Dollar Tortellini Bake

4. Make sure tortellini is well coated.

5. Add spaghetti sauce mixture to top and smooth out.

6. Add shredded mozzarella cheese.

7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes covered.
8. Remove foil and bake 20 additional minutes uncovered. Enjoy!

Expert Tips
- No need to boil the tortellini in advance. The beauty of this pasta bake is that the pasta cooks as it bakes in the oven.
- Swap the heavy cream for half and half. If you want this recipe a little bit lighter, half and half also works.
- Cover with foil for the first half of the cooking, then uncover to brown. By covering with the foil, it allows the pasta to steam and cook through. Then uncover during the second half of the cooking so that the cheese can melt and become golden brown on top.
- You want to brown the meat before adding to the Million Dollar Tortellini Bake. This guarantees there is lots of flavor in the sauce and that the protein is cooked all the way through.
Storage
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in the microwave or in the oven for a few minutes until warmed through.
You can freeze leftover Million Dollar Tortellini as well in an airtight container for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge, then reheat according to the instructions above.

Looks like perfect cold winter meal.
Will be making this soon. Just double checking if the tortellini is frozen or not?
I use tortellini from fridge section. If using frozen, will prob require a little extra time in the oven.
Saw your recipe of making this on TikTok.. Looks delicious!
This recipe sounds amazing.
You said fill the Alfredo jar 1/3 up then pour it over tortellini but what liquid do you pour over it? Water?
Heavy cream
Can you use milk instead of cream?
That will work.
Thank you

Can this be made with chicken instead of beef?
Don’t see why not!
Vary easy and really delicious. Family loves it. I used a chilli grind of hamburger. Bigger chunks, vary good
Do u use frozen or refrigerated tortellini?
I use the refrigerated but frozen should work. Might require a couple extra min in oven but should be close.
Super yummy!!!! Just made this for dinner tonight and it was a hit with everyone!
Tried it and it’s delish!
I made this ya’ll million dollar recipe is right… THANK YOU CHEF. I still have 1/2 pan for tomorrow I bet it will taste even better….if that’s possible. I did add onion & garlic instead of using the powders AWESOME
Making this for supper tomorrow night! Can’t wait to try it out!
what about using the Barilla tortellini in the bag/ macaroni isle
It won’t hydrate as well. I’d stick with fridge/freezer for this recipe. Or, cook the tortellini to al dente first.
This was delicious made the 9 x 13 pan and only had 1 helping left for 4 people. I took helping to work and my client loved it..Thank you
Do you see any reason I can’t prepare this meal and freeze it for a trip I am going on Up North later this week? Might actually eat it sometime next week but want to thaw and reheat.
Yeah man, should be fine. I think I’d prob give it an extra 10-15 min covered since it’s frozen. Def let it sit on counter a lil bit so the glass doesn’t break going into a hot oven.
Thanks! I can’t wait to try it!
I’ve made this and it was FANTASTIC. Thank you for the recipe! My family loves it.
This stuff is sooo good! Making it for the third time tonight and my mouth is already watering!
This is a great easy dinner for the family!! Thanks for sharing!!
I have made this several times and it’s a huge hit!! I use Italian sausage instead of ground beef. It’s amazing!
I made this last night. It was delicious and something different for a change. Very easy to make. Thank you for the recipe.
It’s a must try, you won’t be sorry! One of the easiest meals I’ve ever made and you’d never know it because it’s absolutely delicious!!
I made this for my husband and two Grandchildren. We all LOVED it. Thank you for this recipe, it was great re-heated the next day 😊👍
This may be a really dumb question, but do you cook the tortellini first? I doesn’t look like you do and you didn’t say anything about cooking it in the recipe, but I made this recipe a few months ago and the tortellini wasn’t cooked. Not even close. Is it because i didn’t use the refrigerated/frozen stuff?
If using fresh or frozen, don’t cook ahead of time. Frozen may take a couple extra minutes. If using dry, I’d boil to al dente first.
